Shock Absorbers

Our elite LTR shock absorbers were developed to cater for exceptional requirements such as heavy towing and high speed travel over dirt roads. LTRs employ an independent canister that allows more oil to pass through the shock, while separating it from the gas. As such, LTRs dissipate heat more effectively, and are therefore better suited to extreme conditions where regular shocks are prone to fade.
 

  1. A remote mounted canister allows for greater oil volume and the ability to adjust gas pressures 

  2. The piston separates the gas and the oil, thereby preventing the gas from aerating the oil – a major cause of shock absorber fade 

  3. Nitrogen gas maintains pressure on the piston

Emu Dakar Leaf Springs

Emu Dakar leaf springs cater for commercial vehicles and those who regularly carry heavy loads.

  1. Military Wrap. Designed to provide added safety 

  2. Draw Tapered & Diamond Cut Leaves. To reduce interleaf  friction and to ensure that load distribution occurs at the leaf tips - this significantly contributes to spring life 

  3.  Anti Friction Pads. Regreasable nylon interleaf liners reduce friction at the leaf tips where the load is the greatest 

  4. Graphite Coating. To further reduce the friction between the spring leaves & friction pads 

  5. Bolt Clamps & Liners. The leaf clamps are bolted to allow installation of anti squeak nylon liners 

  6. Shot Peening. The tension side of all leaves is shot peened to reduce spring stress. This process can double the life of a spring 

  7. Flat Axle Seat Area. Allows a positive, safe axle mount reducing spring stress & increasing spring life 

  8. Fully Scragged & Load Tested. Scragging ensures the spring takes a permanent ‘set’ which reduces the risk of sagging. Load testing ensures the spring meets the required specification.

 Greasable Shackles

Features:

  • Unique, easy, bolt together assembly – this eliminates out of angle shackle pin to side plate problems commonly associated with press fit assemblies   

  • Each pin has two grease outlet holes to guarantee maximum grease coverage between the shackle pin and the spring bush – increasing bush life and improving ride quality   

  • Heat treated pins ensure long pin life under heavy loads and off road conditions   

  • Side plates are zinc plated for protection against corrosion

 Products

All Ironman springs are designed to provide vehicle lift over standard. For Leaf Springs the general expectation is 50mm and for Coil Springs expect 40mm. IFS or IRS (Independent Suspension) equipped vehicles generally lift around 35mm.

The lift heights quoted are a general figure only, based upon new vehicle ride heights and standard weight setup. The position and amount of added weight can affect the outcome.

The correct selection of a suspension kit is vital to a successful outcome.

Each vehicle should be treated as an individual case, as many variables can affect the final result. When assessing a vehicle and choosing a kit, the following must be noted:

  • Engine type, Petrol, Diesel, Turbo Diesel? Perhaps an engine conversion which is heavier than the original?
  • Added accessories such as bull bar, winch, second battery, extra spare wheel, drawer system, roof rack, steel tray, sub tanks etc. can all alter the outcome.
  • Take note the location of these accessories as the re-location can also disrupt the weight balance.
  • Carefully note the production date and series of the vehicle as many parts may differ from model to model.
  • Take note of the customer's actual request and learn how and where the vehicle will be driven.

As no two vehicles are alike, customizing a suspension kit is recommended and can be discussed with the Ironman team. For example:

A listed suspension kit, eg. TOY010BKG2 will have B springs supplied front and rear by default. This may not be suitable for a vehicle that carries heavy load in the rear only. In this case we would supply C rear springs but front will remain the B. Kit customisation is relevant when selecting springs and shock absorbers only. This service is only available upon request.
